Mary Jane shoes

The earliest Mary Jane shoes were a patent T bar court shoe with a thicker heel.

Mary Jane became popular as a style of shoe worn by young girls.
Today modern forms of Mary Jane’s include:

  • Slingbacks
  • Platforms
  • Closed toe rounded court shoes

The characteristic of Mary Jane shoes is that they are fastened with a strap around the ankle or a single bucket strap fastened at the instep (middle of the foot) at the top of the shoe.
